AD and NT4 configuration - follow the admin guide

If you are facing problems with Active Directory and NT4 authentication, please follow the administration guide. The following tips may also be useful:

  1. Make sure your system's clock is in sync.
  2. Do not use netbios names > 8 characters long (a truncation fix for this is now available as an update).
  3. If FOO.BAR.COM is your AD realm, use it in uppercase in the realm field and use FOO in uppercase in the domain field.
  4. Please set the IP address of the AD server correctly.
  5. Make the AD server join the domain with the checkbox and enter the AD server's admin username (usually Administrator) and password correctly.
  6. The UID and GID ranges can be kept as defaults if you don't care about them.
  7. You can ignore the LDAP settings (leave them as default) and it won't be used for UNIX UID/GID sync.
