Announcing Openfiler 2.0 beta 1

Openfiler 2.0 beta 1 is now available. Please note that this is a beta release for public testing purposes only. Please do not use this for production purposes.

A whole bunch of new features are available. This article will be updated to show the list of features in full. A partial list of new features in Openfiler 2.0 follows:

• Full iSCSI target support with storage virtualization
• Extensive volume and physical storage management support
• Software RAID management support
• Support for online filesystem growing
• LDAP based UID/GID synchronization for SMB/CIFS (Id mapping)
• Support for SMB/CIFS "shadow copy" feature for snapshot volumes
• Basic support for UPS management
• Support for larger block devices
• Better hardware compatibility
• Slightly Ajaxified UI
• Built-in SSH client Java applet
