  1. What is Openfiler FC SAN Target ?

    Openfiler FC SAN Target is a comprehensive web management GUI for creating and managing Fibre Channel (FC) targets and LUN exports. Openfiler FC SAN Target allows you to configure virtual block devices, and manage LUN masking for block device exports to SAN initiators. This is done by leveraging a kernel-level SAN target based on Qlogic FC host bus adapters.

  2. How is Openfiler FC SAN Target licensed?

    The Openfiler FC SAN Target is licensed per installed instance as part of Openfiler Commercial Edition. 

  3. Is the Openfiler FC SAN Target Open Source?

    Openfiler FC SAN Target is a proprietary product available with Openfiler Commercial Edition (CE).

  4. Is the Openfiler FC SAN Target license perpetual?

    No. Openfiler FC SAN Target is licensed, per installed instance, as an annual subscription.

  5. I would like to purchase Openfiler FC SAN Target but do not have a Paypal account. What other methods of payment can I use?

  6. Does Openfiler FC SAN Target support my hardware?

    Openfiler FC SAN Target is layered on top of the Linux-based Openfiler appliance software and is compatible with 4Gb and 8Gb Qlogic FC host bus adapters.

  7. My client host machines do not have Qlogic FC HBAs. Can I still use Openfiler FC SAN Target?

    The only requirement is that your Openfiler host has a 4Gb or 8Gb Qlogic FC HBA. This is also true for any OEM FC HBA based on Qlogic FC chips. Any brand of FC HBA can act as an initiator to consume storage LUNs from an Openfiler target host with the FC SAN Target installed.

  8. I am currently using FC target in Openfiler via the command line interface - can I take advantage of the Openfiler FC SAN Target without reconfiguration?

    Yes. The Openfiler FC SAN Target will allow you to keep your existing settings and provides an intuitive web-based management interface for a simpler configuration experience.

  9. Will I receive installation support?

    Yes. Openfiler FC SAN Target includes installation and integration support with any virtualization solution.

  10. Does Openfiler FC SAN Target include a support plan?

    Yes. Openfiler FC SAN Target  supports persistent reservations and passes Windows Failover Cluster validation.

  13. Can I use Openfiler FC SAN Target with Citrix Xenserver?

    Yes. Openfiler FC SAN Target is compatible with Citrix Xenserver.

  14. What management functionality is provided with Openfiler FC SAN Target ?

    Openfiler FC SAN Target comes with an intuitive web-based management interface that provides full management capability of block export via Fibre Channel Protocol. This includes virtual disks management, target management, LUN mapping and LUN masking.

  15. How much storage can I manage and export to initiators with Openfiler FC SAN Target?

    There are no capacity or initiator restrictions. You may deploy as much storage as you wish to as many initiators as you want with no additional cost.
